On May 2, VUB Architectural Engineering is organising an evening event to discuss the reuse of building materials, from ancient times to the present. Researchers from VUB Architectural Engineering will present their latest findings, but it’s also a unique opportunity to hear some of the most renowned international scholars on the topic: Philippe Bernardi and Maxime L’Héritier, will give a lecture, and afterwards they participate in a round table together with Jane Hutton and Lionel Devlieger. Another reason why you can’t miss out on this: the event takes place in a vacant office building in the centre of Brussels (Rue de Ligne 8), which Reset has turned into a vibrant location.
Tentative programme
18:00 Ine Wouters / INTRODUCTION on the research project Re-building Brussels (1695-2025). The construction sector as an engine for social inclusion and circularity
18:10 Louise Huba and Lara Reyniers / PRESENTATION Brussels demolished. A short history of construction waste
18:30 Philippe Bernardi (Université Paris Panthéonne-Sorbonne) and Maxime L’Héritier (Université Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, ArScAn CNRS) / LECTURE Qualifying and quantifying re-use in construction in Ancient times
