8 Mei, viering van vrijheid en verzet

Op maandag 8 mei 2023 vond op de VUB een bijzondere herdenkingsceremonie plaats. Er werd vrijheid en verzet gevierd door middel van getuigenissen, toespraken, poëzie en muzikale begeleiding. Deze ceremonie markeert de herdenking van de dag waarop nazi-Duitsland zich officieel overgaf in 1945. Een moment om stil te staan bij oorlogsslachtoffers, verzetshelden en de waarde van vrede en democratie.

Op 8 mei 1945 gaf nazi-Duitsland zich officieel over. In heel Europa barstten bevrijdingsfeesten los. In verschillende landen bleef 8 mei een officiële feestdag. Men herdenkt oorlogsslachtoffers en verzetshelden, en staat stil bij de kwetsbaarheid en betekenis van vrede en democratie.

The first FARI AI Datawalk & Demos

During the weKONEKT.week, FARI and weKONEKT.brussels organised the FARI AI Datawalk & Demos. Students got the opportunity to view the city in a new light and explore the newly opened AI Test & Experience Center. Its point is to make citizens aware of various ways data is collected around you, with or without your knowledge. VUB and ULB students had exclusive access to the new space.

The inaugural Lecture of the CLIC Lorand Chair Intermediality takes place at Kaaistudio's on 25 September. The text of a drama is part of literature, a written form of artistic expression frequently accessed in print. Nassim W. Balestrini's research focuses on intermediality and adaptation theory, life writing across media, and new approaches to the historiography of theater and poetry.
